For many years, I was "Panera Girl." In Minneapolis, I trained new employees and in Seattle, I worked in the bakery. It was a fun job that allowed me to help pay for our girls' college bills.
Panera is an innovative bakery/cafe that is always changing and keeping up with current food trends. When we were in Seattle a few weeks ago, we met some friends (newlyweds) at Panera and I discovered their newest item ...
... organic steel cut oatmeal with fresh strawberries, toasted pecans and a cinnamon turbinado sugar mix.
It was beyond delicious!

I LOVE Panera and being from St Louis, I knew it as St. Louis Bread Company. I have never tried their oats because I am not usually there for breakfast - love their salads for lunch - but I might have to swing by and try these. Looks absolutely yummy!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Panera girl too (eater, that is). We go fairly often for breakfast or for a light dinner. The oatmeal looks delicious. I'll give it a try next visit.
ReplyDeleteWe are well on our way to 60 degrees today!
Best,
Bonnie
oh my goodness...it just SOUNDS so good!! I am going to try and copy the recipe....for a big hit in this house.. beets instant any day!
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.
Yum! This sounds wonderful, thanks for tipping us off on this - I love Panera but most of their breakfast items are quite sugary and high-fat laden, that's not always a bad thing but this is a wonderful alternative!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun job to have, Glenda. LOVE Panera and cannot imagine anyone better suited to training employees. Makes for a whole batch of kind, thoughtful, effective employees.
ReplyDeleteGlenda
ReplyDeleteDo you know we have them here in Cali and I have never been to one. After this post I am going to make a visit. Thank you for the great share.
Much love
Kate
Thanks for the tip. I always go to Panera Bread with my daughter when I visit her in San Diego. Going next week! Love their coffee too.
ReplyDeleteWhat?? You were Panera girl?? Why didn't I know this. We love Panera. Go there a lot. I have a shortbread cookie problem...we won't get into that;)
ReplyDeleteGlenda,
ReplyDeleteSo, I read something awhile back on Panera, and I meant to blog on it and of course never did. I read that Panera had a "pay what you can afford" night, (maybe more!), but people would just come in and order and donate what they could afford. I always thought that was so cool because dang, they have some yummy food!
One of my favorite things there...delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Panera. Always stop there when I end up in Topeka, KS.
ReplyDeleteThis oatmeal sounds wonderful. Too many good choices.
You worked at Panera? How cool!! I love the new berry acai tea...so much so that I waited about 15 min. for them to clean out the big tank and brew more when I was there last week! Other folks just got the regular fresh brewed iced tea....not me, I waited!!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Panera, well.. until now :) Sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Panera girl, too...only I stand on the opposite side of the counter :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I love Panera! We'll have to try this. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI like Panera, too. Hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteHey! Wouldn't it be a small world if you ever waited on me when I was visiting relatives in Minneapolis & eating at Panera? My sister introduced to Panera in Mlps. I went there a couple of times & I was excited when they came here to TN -- I love to eat at Panera!! It is an almost weekly haunt after we drop the kids off for AWANA. Yum! Yum!
